Roman Shades

Tonight I made roman shades.  Somehow I messed up the pull thing so they don't "fold up beautifully" like the Pinterest directions told me they would.  I guess they aren't so bad for my first try.

October Weekend Travels

The first weekend of October we hit the road with the Baumeister's for our first SEC football game, Auburn vs. S. Carolina.  Apparently football is a religion in these parts.  We cheered "War Eagle" to the game (Auburn Flags flapping in the wind)....and all the way home.  We won!!!

The 2nd weekend in October we headed to Kure Beach, NC with our small group!

Ainsley and Ellie playing while we enjoyed our coffee and girl talk saturday morning.

Yes, this would be a random "zoo" Christie and I found on the way to the grocery store.

The gang (minus a few families)

The house color is blazing sunrise (or something like that)...not pink.  Noted.

So far it has been a great October in North Carolina!

Love,
Liz

1 Peter Notes

Over the last couple weeks I have been studying 1 Peter as part of a women's bible study at The Summit.  I've been so encouraged during this study and can't help but share some of my notes from last night.  Did you know Jesus has invited us into His true, real life story?   We are His image bearers on this earth.  This life we live in has never been intended to be perfect and never will be until His return, HOWEVER each and every moment in our lives occurs to fulfill His plan, His real life story.  It's not an accident we are living where we are, we are working where we are, friends with who we're friends with, etc. etc.  What peace I find in knowing that my past is anchored at the cross and that my hope is in the future.  Affliction is only temporary!  Adversity, anguish, burdens, irritation, pain, thorns, tribulation are all words that describe affliction and each and every single one of these things are only temporary, thank the Lord.  My hope is in the future.  My selfish ways get in the way of my relationship with Christ and the true understanding of his holiness.  This life is NOT about me, it's about serving Him, it's about being Christ like.   As quoted in my study, Chuck Swindoll writes, "A godly person is one who ceases to be self-centered in order to become God-centered.  Christ became a man and, as a result of His earthy ministry, we see how God intended for humans to behave.  Jesus is our unblemished example of godliness.  Therefore, a godly person (a holy person) is a Christ-like person.  Our goal as Christians is to become like Christ."

Seeking Him,
Elizabeth

Cape Cod Reno Continued

Well here we are at the beginning of another work week.  These darn work weeks sure get in the way of getting house projects accomplished :). I guess we have to pay for this money pit one way or another :).  This house is teaching me now more than ever how to practice patience. It seem like the smallest things are taking forever to check off my list.  We're really good at jumping from project to project :(.  There are just so many I can't make my mind up what to work on first. I'll step outside in the middle of a project we're working on inside, pull a weed, and all of a sudden I'm entrenched in piles of yard waste.  I can't stop myself.  Here's where we are as of today.

I found this rug today at the wonderful TJ Maxx/Home Goods for $69.99!  Woot Woot!

We finally have some of our cabinet doors up.  We still have a few to put up and knobs/pulls to put on.  By we I mean Jake :).

Oh yeah, and our new appliances!

Zoe is loving her new yard.....
....and now she can't run away with our new underground dog fence installed by yours truly (and Jake of course).

These are some old bathroom mirrors that were left behind in the house....

....so I spray painted them with high gloss paint.

Master bath wall color.

experimenting with the mantel decor.  Mamma Lu what do you think?

 This is a chair I think I need x2.

This is Jake chasing Zoe with the lawn mower haha.

Extra Fun Misc. Shots

Indy Poo came to see us a week ago.  She shared her first orange soda with Uncle Jake (out of a glass bottle of course)!

AND Jake and I got to babysit baby Everett this weekend while mommy and daddy went to a wine party!  He thought Jake was hilarious!  Oh the fun we had :)

That's all for now friends!  Have a great week.

Love,
Elizabeth

The New Do

Well it made me cry, but I've had much much worse.  Here's the cut.  I finally gave in and took pics of myself on the mac.  Ugh I always feel so vain on photo booth.

Way too far behind....

I am way too far behind on a little bit of everything...my house, my blogging and more.  Jake and I are without internet for another week (with the exception of Jake's fancy iPhone) so I finally headed down to the local Starbucks to give y'all a brief breakdown.  I know some of you are going to hate me, but I don't have many house pic updates for you simply because we are still living in mayhem.  It's a tad bit difficult to start decorating until I know what the main pieces in my house are going to look like aka sofa and chairs.  Jake and I are due for a trip to Ikea or High Point, NC (the furniture capital of the world for those of you wondering what the heck high point is).  Jake and I are still living without cabinet doors due to some difficulties, but hopefully Jake will have time to break away from his 12+ hour work days to knock this out sooner or later.  It sure gets old looking at all of the junk in my cabinets.  HOWEVER, we do have new beautiful stainless steel appliances!!!  I even got the cool fridge with the drawer on the bottom.  I was super pumped about this.  We got a killer deal on the appliances from my brother and sister-in-law.  They got new appliances....so therefore we did too ;).  Hardwood floors will hopefully be in by Thanksgiving.  I'll have to put up with the lovely carpet until then.  I think that's manageable.  I spoiled myself with a trip to the fabric store yesterday with my dear friend Laura B and Baby Everett.  I picked up some samples of fabrics that will make for some pretty cool draperies and upholstery for an old chair.  I promise once we get the house a little more pulled together I'll post some pics.  Check out the fabrics we found!

Cape Cod Reno Week 5 & 6...or something like that.

Jake and I pretty much work, eat, work on house and sleep.  Needless to say I've lost track of all time, except for the deadline that we have to be out of our apartment and in this house by AUGUST 22.  It still seems like we have a lot to do, but here's an update.  Keep in mind the walls are wet so the glare with the camera flash doesn't make for the best pictures.  Trust me....the colors are good.  The walls in the living room are a grayish/taupe color, the master bedroom is gray and the kitchen is white with barely jade cabinets (which are still a work in progress).  The cabinets are still sticky after drying for over a week so I'm a tad concerned about this.  We'll figure it out though.  I'm not sure which pulls to go with.  Jake likes the brushed/warehouse looking ones, and I lean toward the shiny.  Give us your vote!

Get excited.  Stainless steel appliances arriving soon thanks to a great deal with the bro and sister in law!

Kitchen cabinets stilllll sticky :(

Living room
Still need one more coat on the fireplace.

The gray looks awesome!  You just can't tell in this pic.

Close up of gray walls.

There's an update friends!  More updates very soon!

It was good while it lasted...

Sister ~ it was a joy having you in NC.  I already miss driving down 55 with you listening to Bob and the Showgram and sipping our coffee all the way to MDCC.  Thank you for a great summer!

Yes we will most definitely miss you Kathryn!
